Learn More About Our Keynote Speakers
The three main speakers invite us to explore how we can navigate career changes throughout different life stages: from starting out, through mid-career and into retirement. Sometimes these pivots are a natural evolution; other times they are forced upon us by unexpected events. Each speaker focuses on one of those three stages, sharing personal stories, reflections, and lessons learned. What ties their experiences together is the understanding that at any point, making a change involves: (1) paying attention to who you are now, (2) choosing alignment and intentional direction over auto pilot and (3) recognizing that our identities evolve over time. They’ll discuss the moments when they realized it was time for a shift and what those changes meant for them. Reflecting on these pivots is valuable for everyone, offering a powerful way to think about long-term growth both professionally and personally.
Winnie Akoury, a media personality based in Boston, kicks off the day with energy. As a young woman navigating a male dominated industry, her experiences reflect the early career journey of shaping one’s identity, expanding skills, and asserting personal power and voice. Winnie candidly discusses what if feels like to be compelled to change direction. She embodies the concept that pivoting often involves exploring various options and recalibrating your path as you discover what suits you best.
Nicole Hart is a personal brand and leadership advisor. She represents the pivotal phase during which individuals refine their skills, deepen their expertise and occasionally pursue reinvention, resulting in a clearer understanding of strengths, responsibilities, and the pursuit of meaningful work. This stage frequently involves transitioning from established, long-held roles to positions more closely aligned with one’s values, often leading to leadership opportunities that allow for significant impact and influence within one’s chosen field. Navigating mid-career transformation can be both an empowering and purposeful journey, where the pursuit of meaningful work becomes a central focus.
Deb Anthony is a seasoned leader in the non-profit sector, whose career has included numerous leadership roles. Most notably, she served as the executive director of Gather (formerly the Seacoast Food Pantry.) Under her guidance, the organization experienced significant growth, expanding from a modest food pantry with a $250,000 budget into a thriving $6 million organization. Deb retired in 2023 at the age of 65 and subsequently launched her own non-profit initiative
Deb’s journey highlights the later career stage which is marked by a shift from achievement-driven work to engagement rooted in purpose. In this phase, she demonstrates the importance of separating one’s identity from a job title and restructuringlife to focus on what is most meaningful. For Deb, pivoting later in life is not about slowing down, but rather about intentionally redirecting her energy toward new avenues of service and fulfillment.
