HCA New England Healthcare supports over 30 organizations in community service month

Inaugural “We Show Up for Our Communities” initiative gives back to local organizations

ROCHESTER, DERRY, PORTSMOUTH, NH (May 28, 2024) – HCA New England Healthcare’s Frisbie Memorial HospitalParkland Medical Center, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital showed up for communities across the state during its inaugural statewide “We Show Up for Our Communities” service month. Across the three hospitals, nearly 70 colleagues volunteered approximately 465 hours at over 30 community partner organizations.

“HCA Healthcare has always been committed to service, which includes volunteering in our local communities,” said Dean M. Carucci, market president of HCA New England Healthcare. “This inaugural service month proved just how committed our colleagues are to serving, as they selflessly participated in numerous volunteer projects around the State of New Hampshire. But our commitment isn’t limited to this one month, as many of our colleagues volunteer both on behalf of our hospitals and on their own throughout the year, consistently contributing to the health and wellbeing of people throughout the region.”

The organizations with the most hours of volunteerism were Habitat for Humanity, Childhood Cancer Lifeline, McGregor Memorial EMS, Sandy Hook Promise, American Legion Post 56, and many others.

“We are so thrilled to have partnered with HCA Healthcare’s Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Frisbie Memorial Hospital through their month of volunteering,” said Marcie Bergan, executive director of Southeast NH Habitat for Humanity. “Every hand and every dollar make a difference to our organization and having HCA’s team out on the build in addition to their philanthropic dollars is truly a blessing.”

The top five colleagues with the most volunteer hours are Allison Fife, patient access at Frisbie Memorial Hospital; Michael Labrecque, laboratory at Portsmouth Regional Hospital; Robert Nutting, emergency department at Parkland Medical Center; Lisa Mistkowski, health information management at Portsmouth Regional Hospital; and Diane Fleming, clinical informatics at Parkland Medical Center.

Colleagues were encouraged to log their volunteer time. For every 10 hours of service recorded, they received a $200 Care Card, a virtual gift card, that was donated to any public charity or school of their choice. Each colleague can earn up to $1,000 worth of Care Cards during the calendar year. Eligible volunteer hours are also accepted for colleagues who are actively serving as board members for nonprofit organizations. The “We Show Up for Our Communities” service month generated nearly $16,000 in grants.
