July 9th Haverhill Art Walk

Haverhill, MA — After a successful first Haverhill Art Walk event of the season, the five month program returns on July 9th, highlighting local businesses and underutilized spaces in downtown Haverhill with plein air painting, poetry, walking tours, live music and more!

The Boys and Girls Club, Casa Blanca, G’s Restaurant and Exit Realty are hosting plein air painters outside with indoor exhibits of their work. Sarah LoVasco of SJ Art Consulting will host an interview session with featured artist represented by the gallery, Marc Mannheimer, a Professor of Art at Northern Essex Community College. His work has been shown in many galleries and museums in the USA and abroad, and collected widely. Prints of Mannheimer’s work will be available for purchase.

Wingate Street brings Liam Foley to the Winged Rabbit, Ana Smyth to Peddler’s Daughter and a one year anniversary celebration at Sketches & Drips with art activities for the family!

The Whittier Birthplace is coming back to the map with Poetic Justice pop-up readings in the alley next to the Barking Dog, while the Pentucket Kiwanis Club also hosts readings of work by John Greenleaf Whittier at the sculpture by Dale Rogers at the MVRTA bus station. While there, catch the Architecture Tour Presented by Buttonwoods Museum to learn about the historic Italian buildings along Washington Street.

sic at Washington Square will be presented by Be Imagine Music Studio including a lineup of youth bands, Liz Bills and Sisters and Brothers. Across the street at Shoe Town Art Center, Emily Boulger hosts a faculty and student exhibit / art sale.

Drop in to Yoga Tree to have your photo taken for Second Nature: Portraits of Resilience, a community portrait project by Jess Furtado, and the 21+ crowd can stop at Stem for Art of Tie Dye Tees with Alison Polanco before heading to the all ages Hoop Jam at Columbus Park!

All businesses along the route, spanning Washington, Wingate, Essex and Emerson Streets, are invited to participate. With support from the Art Walk coordinator, participating businesses will host events best suited for their space and individual goals. This program is hosted by Creative Haverhill to support the artists and businesses of our community while helping to activate downtown.
