Parkland Medical Center Opens its First Freestanding Emergency Room

PLAISTOW, NH  – Parkland Medical Center opened its first freestanding emergency room today, designed to meet the needs of this growing community. The Plaistow Emergency Room is located at 26 Plaistow Road, Plaistow, New Hampshire.

The new emergency room is staffed with board-certified and board-eligible emergency room physicians and nurses 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It will provide the same services as an emergency room that is housed within the walls of a hospital.

As southern New Hampshire continues to see significant growth, the need for 24/7 emergency care close to where people live and work is paramount,” said John Skevington, chief executive officer at Parkland Medical Center. “We are confident that by providing the Plaistow community with access to high-quality emergency medical services, we will increase access to care, reduce wait times, and improve the patient experience.”

Just like a hospital emergency department, Plaistow Emergency Room treats a variety of emergency medical needs including heart attack, stroke, trauma conditions, lacerations, acute pain, and other life-threatening conditions. Plaistow Emergency Room has the same advanced medical technologies that are available at our main emergency room on the Parkland Medical Center campus in Derry, and will be similar to Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s freestanding ERs in Dover and Seabrook.

Designed to meet the community’s needs, the new freestanding ER features:

  • Full-service emergency care – the same services offered at hospital-based ERs
  • Walk-in and ambulance entrances
  • 10 private treatment rooms
  • CT capabilities
  • Digital ultrasound and diagnostic x-rays
  • On-site laboratory

In an emergency situation, every minute matters,” said Marc Grossman, MD, medical director of Parkland Medical Center’s ER. “Having 24/7 access to emergency medicine physicians close to home for residents in the Plaistow area will save lives and enhance patient recovery. Parkland Medical Center is proud to be in the community to provide high quality and compassionate care.”
