 In Chamber News, Press Releases

christmas-stroll-logo-no-yearThe Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Stroll will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in downtown Haverhill.  The event is free and open to the public.

For over twenty years, this downtown event has been a tradition for Haverhill residents and business owners, drawing thousands of attendees each year to see Santa and the lighting of the Christmas tree.  This long standing tradition not only kicks off the heart of the Christmas season but provides holiday fun for families, and highlights local retailers and restaurants.

This year attendees can enjoy a trip to Santa’s Workshop and stories with Mrs. Claus, or a holiday train ride, and a meet-and-greet with some loveable characters. Additional activities include face painting, cookie and ornament decorating, making reindeer food, and writing letters to Santa. The event will also include “Reindeer Games” which will provide fun outdoor games for kids and adults. To promote the spirit of the season, wandering Victorian carolers and a saxophone quartet will perform holiday songs and music, and of course, Santa will be on hand to light the Christmas tree!

Stage performances will include the 2016 Haverhill Idol winners, Haverhill High School choir and band, as well as other local musicians including youth bands from Be Imagine Music.  Street activities will include a martial arts demo and dance performance as well as a “Candy Cane Limbo” contest. The Duston-Dustin Garrison House will be celebrating Hannah Duston’s birthday and showcasing some antiques from her home.

A map will be provided to all attendees that will highlight each local business that is providing an activity, performance or offering holiday treats like gingerbread cookies and hot cocoa. In addition to the downtown Haverhill businesses, the Christmas Stroll will have some additional pop-up shops including the Friends of the Haverhill Public Library which will offer Haverhill themed items.  Also, Haverhill High School’s Fine Arts Academy students will be on hand selling their unique creations.  Career Resources will also be showcasing the photography of two of their clients and selling prints and calendars.

The business community’s support is greatly needed to keep this a FREE family event. If you can sponsor please click here, or contact the chamber office at 978-373-5663.
