The proposed commercial building, located at the site of the former Woolworth building, will be known as “Pentucket Bank Plaza” with new signs to be located at the top of the building once complete. “It is our privilege to have the Pentucket Bank name linked to the most impactful downtown development initiative in Haverhill’s recent history,” states Scott Cote, President/CEO of Pentucket Bank. “We are proud of the deep roots we have in Haverhill and feel strongly that making a long-term commitment to our City’s downtown demonstrates our commitment to our customers, employees and the continued betterment of the Haverhill community for the foreseeable future.” In addition to the naming rights for the building, Pentucket Bank has committed to leasing the fourth floor of “Pentucket Bank Plaza.” The new commercial building will also include occupancy by UMass Lowell on two floors, HC Media and several other businesses. “Additionally, the new riverfront plaza will be a wonderful location for local businesses and citizens to congregate and have easy, public access to the river,” Cote said. As a mutually-owned community Bank, Pentucket Bank’s core mission is to offer the highest level of service to their customers. The Bank is also widely known throughout the Merrimack Valley for their community support and volunteerism. Annually, Pentucket Bank employees donate over 7,500 hours of volunteer time to local non-profit organizations and other community activities, in addition to making charitable donations totaling over $450,000 in 2014 alone. Cote and the Bank’s Senior Management team feel strongly that working in such close proximity to UMass Lowell and other community-minded businesses will create an atmosphere of partnership, economic development and education in the heart of Haverhill’s historic downtown. This type of synergy will be the nucleus for future growth opportunities throughout the city and beyond. “We are excited and optimistic to associate the Pentucket Bank name, which has been closely tied to economic development in the City for over a century, with a development that will launch Haverhill into a future of economic growth and long-term sustainability,” Cote concluded. Established in 1891, Pentucket Bank is a full service community bank with total assets of approximately $663 million as of December 31, 2014 and branches in Haverhill, Massachusetts; Salem and Hampstead, New Hampshire and their newest branch opened in 2014 in North Andover, Massachusetts. Pentucket Bank has been consistently named a Top Place to Work by the Boston Globe and is the leading bank in Haverhill in deposit market share. The Bank has also been identified as one of the fastest growing banks in New Hampshire and is among the leaders in average deposits per branch compared to all other Banks throughout Essex County.
