Winnekenni Foundation Chosen as October Business of the Month

Winnekenni Foundation Honored by Chamber with BUSINESS OF THE MONTH Award

Haverhill, MA – The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce is pleased to recognize the Winnekenni Foundation with the honor of Business of the Month for October 2016 for their outstanding dedication to one of Haverhill’s historic treasures and commitment to promoting the arts and sciences in the Merrimack Valley region.

Built in 1875 as a summer home for Dr. James R. Nichols, the castle was later acquired by the city of Haverhill.  After the interior of the castle was devastated by fire in 1967, the Winnekenni Foundation was created by a group of citizens to restore and maintain the castle and surrounding land.  Since 1967, the Foundation has tirelessly worked to preserve Winnekenni’s history and create a landmark that is a valuable part of the community and a destination for tourists.  Today, Winnekenni offers miles of trails for walking, biking and cross country skiing. The castle hosts concerts, plays, workshops, fundraisers and so much more.

 

The Winnekenni Foundation’s commitment to the local community and Chamber was most recently highlighted with their continued participation in the Chamber’s Five Treasurer’s Trolley Tour.  This well attended event introduces the public to all of Haverhill’s historic and cultural sites.

 

In an effort to recognize outstanding achievement in the Greater Haverhill community, the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce formally identifies a “Business of the Month” approximately every four weeks. This award is given to a Chamber member that is a proven leader in their business or industry and excels in the areas of community involvement, economic growth, customer service and professional relationships.

 

Award winners are recognized in area newspapers highlighting their distinction as Business of the Month, receive a complimentary guest ticket to the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s exclusive “Annual Business Awards Breakfast” and are automatically entered into the running for the Annual Business of the Year award. That honor is announced during the annual breakfast in February 2016.

 

Nominations for Business of the Month can be submitted at any time. Forms are available by calling the chamber office at 978-373-5663 or by email at info@haverhillchamber.com. There is no fee for nominations or applications. Companies may be nominated by any member business. This is a benefit available exclusively to Chamber members.
